Update #1: Requests in, Stakker Update #1 out:
Swap Controls implemented (you can choose between D-Pad and Analogue handling)
Reward system made easier (you get points in the following manner: +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +5 +5…)
Pressing Down lets the blocks fall 3x faster IMPORTANT: Letting a block fall faster directly on the platform could result in the situation where the block goes “through” the platform, and you get -10 points, that’s because of the simulation being fast forwarded by the factor 3.
Update #2:
New feature: put a JPEG image called theme.jpg in Stakker’s directory and the image gets loaded as your new background (standard size is 480×272)
TV out — that’s what FuSa is all about… OldPrisoneR and Andy_maN with one up on Sony. Doing it right from the get-go — PSP Slim TV out with just about any cable, supporting full screen output, on just about any television set. Ya know…
FuSa Build 45 changes:
Now FuSa supports 6 languages (ENGLISH, RUSSIAN, GERMAN, ITALIAN, DUTCH, POLISH)
Fullscreen mode; 2 was added (REAL FULL SCREEN!)
You no longer need dvemgr.prx now
Now you can just hold RIGHT and LEFT buttons while setting up FPS/priority — values will scroll automatically
NEW: menu hotkey was added — hold R-TRIGGER while setting up FPS/priority — 10x scroll speed
Prepare to have your brain blown apart with Blizzrad’s Single Connector External DualShock Controller Mod… You’ll be left speechless, mouth hanging open, staring blankly at your screen.
Still playing that Sega SG-1000? Oh man, it’s time to step your MSX game up… ZX has released version 1.3.0 of PSPMSX — the MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ 8bit home computer emulator. It’s ported from Marat Fayzullin’s fMSX project. A straight blast from the past.
Add gzipped disk file support to reduce disk file size from 700k to 50k! (you may gzip original dsk file using 7-zip available at www.7-zip.org)
Add MSX eboot’s music (thanks to Konami)
A thumbnail image is now displayed in the file requester while selecting any file with the same name of a previously saved game (rom, disk, keyboard, settings). It might be very helpful to recognize that game later if you have thousand different games in your disk and rom folders!
In the emulator menu you can go directly to keyboard and settings menus using the L-Trigger key.
As we near the Homebrew Idol finale, developer MaxTheBest shares his creation — Protect Me. A simple yet effective homebrew app wrapped around a PRX plugin. The PRX is called on-boot prompting the user to enter his/her password before granting access to the XMB. So all that filth you wish to hide from your unsuspecting friends, siblings, etc… It’s safe now — for the most part.
Installation is easy — copy the “Protect-Me” directory to PSP/GAME on your memory stick, and run it. From here the rest is pretty straightforward: install / uninstall the PRX, set or remove your password, and so forth… As per the screenshot:
“Max, you the best.” Now that my unmentionables are safely protected.
Protect Me 0.91 changes:
Now when the intruder inputs 3 wrong password, an alarm will be played to alert you about the thief.
Over the past few days you’ve likely spotted several SNES test builds circulating the scene. While the Japanese developer (or developers?) remains anonymous, people are talking, and word on the virtual street is, Ruka — you know, the talent behind NesterJ — may be responsible for the number of recent updates. Evidently, Snes9xTYLsmcm is based off the initial developments of YoyoFR and Laxer3a.
Anyway… I finally had the opportunity to sit down, install the latest test build, and kick some serious alien ass in Contra III - the Alien Wars. Fans of the Super NES — you need this emulator, no questions asked. It’s slick.
Update: Not having much luck with Wally’s Daedalus? Well another [unofficial] R14 release has sprung up from CaptainMorgan4. Here’s what the Captain had to say:
Since Wally released his updated version of the R14beta I find it basically harmless to release here the R14beta I have from the previous “Daedalus R14beta” thread not too long ago. Anyway I believe it’s pretty stable it works great with my PSP so I figured I’d let you guys check it out.
Daedalus Lives!
Wally has picked up the seemingly silent StrmnNrmn Daedalus project and has issued R14 beta.
Newcomers should know Daedalus emulates the Nintendo 64 console; it’s in the beta stages of development and many roms aren’t playable. Although, you should still give it a shot — Daedalus deserves it.
Longtime readers — R14 exhibits some improvement, but is said to be slightly buggier. You win some you lose some.
Daedalus R14 changes:
A bit of ME support
A tad faster
A bit buggier.
New Icons etc
Known issues:
Debug menus popup - these are bypass-able by pressing the SQUARE button and shouldn’t be very often.
As we enter the final week of Homebrew Idol, developer “snowmydog” strikes with an impressive remake of “Pipe Mania” (aka “Pipe Dream”). It’s the famous puzzle game available on many platforms dating back to the late 80s/early 90s.
With snowmydog’s Pipeline, the same rules apply: construct a path from start to end using the randomly generated pipes, water will begin to flow when the countdown timer finishes. If the water spills or you do not meet the required minimum distance, you lose.
Remember — if ya can’t swim, ya bound to drizzown.
Sangheili has released an updated version of PSP Pileup. You know, the stacker-like homebrew game we spoke of earlier.
This time ’round Sangheili has introduced a new scoring system and mini-games section. The two coexist with one another — unlock the mini games by accumulating points over time. Although, as far as mini games go, PSP Pileup 0.3 leaves us with only Pong, for now…
PSP Pileup 0.3 changes:
got rid of some bugs, a few too many to list here
added a scoring system
added a minigames section; pong doesn’t have levels
Checks if you have more than 74% of battery, if you don’t, it tells you to press X to shut down or [] to continue.
Checks if you have enough free space in your memory stick.
Improved Installation and Uninstallation systems
After any process is run it tells you to press X to shut down instead of continuing.
Does not auto edit vsh.txt anymore (you must do it manually, this was proabably causing the memory stick problem)
Count the [PSP] shells, suckaduck! Actually, with respect to Homebrew Idol, only Pirata’s shell replacement counts, and it’s serious. Slamming iR Shell with some stiff competition — NervOS version 2.0.
I’ve highlighted the major enhancements with NervOS version 2.0; but really, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The release thread provides more detail and several NervOS screenshots. Ensure you read over the supplied (PDF) documentation as well.
Highlighted NervOS 2.0 features:
File Browser: improved extension system, there should be no errors anymore.
New original theme (by CO_ol)
Improved keyboard: does not hang anymore
Added support for March33, Normal and SonyNp9660 drivers
Added 3 core files: usbhostfs.prx, ctrl.prx and isodrivers.prx
NervOS Configuration: ability to change ISO Driver, disable/enable Are you Sure Question, change CPU speed, change font, disable/enable Splash Screen and disable/enable Log In.
When exiting from NervOS, if you have the nosautoboot.prx enabled, it will not return to NervOS anymore.
Improved screenshot function, does not overwrite saved screenshots anymore.
File Browser: detects every extensions (if they are typed in the file name)
